Sign of the Day of Judgment: The Muslim Ummah will fall into polytheism
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until the women of the tribe of Daws move their waists on the idol Dhul-Khalasa. Dhul-Khalasa was an idol of the tribe of Daws which they used to worship in the pre-Islamic period."

It is narrated from Hazrat Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "The Hour will not be established until the tribes of my Ummah join with the polytheists and until the tribes of my Ummah begin to worship idols."

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says:
"I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say that the day and night will not end until the worship of Lat and Uzza takes place."
❀ Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says:
I said: O Messenger of Allah! I thought that after the revelation of this verse, the religion would be completed (and there would be no room for polytheism).
The Almighty Allah has sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion so that he may prevail over every religion, even though this may be displeasing to the polytheists.
Reference: (As-Saff: 9)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The religion will remain exalted as long as Allah wills, then Allah will send a pure wind which will take the soul of every person who has even an atom's weight of faith in his heart, then those who have no good in them will remain and they will return to the religion of their (disbelieving) forefathers."

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says:
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Every prophet's supplication is necessarily accepted, and every prophet hastened his supplication in this world, but I have reserved my supplication for my Ummah on the Day of Resurrection, and my supplication, God willing, will be accepted for every member of my Ummah who dies in a state of not associating anyone with Allah."

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when this verse was revealed:
﴿ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوا إِيمَانَهُمْ بِظُلْمٍ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمُ الْأَمْنُ وَهُمْ مُهْتَدُونَ ﴾
Those who believe and keep their faith pure from injustice, for them is security, and they are the guided.
Reference: (Al-An'am: 82)
The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: Who among us has never done injustice? So Allah revealed this verse clarifying that injustice:
﴿ إِنَّ الشِّرْكَ لَظُلْمٌ عَظِيمٌ ﴾
Indeed, polytheism is a great injustice.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Waqid Al-Laythi (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) set out towards Hunayn, he passed by a berry tree called ذات أنواط, on which the polytheists used to hang their weapons as a blessing. Some newly converted Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! Just as they have a ذات أنواط, appoint for us a ذات أنواط (tree). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Allah is the Greatest! This is like when the Children of Israel said: (O Moses!) appoint for us a god just as they have gods. (Listen!) You will surely follow the ways of the earlier people."

Benefits:
(1) The Muslim Ummah falling into polytheism is a sign of the Day of Judgment.
(2) Before the Day of Judgment, the worship of Dhul-Khalasa, Lat, Uzza, and other idols will resume, even though the Prophet (peace be upon him) destroyed all these idols during his blessed life.
(3) The women of the Muslim Ummah will be more involved in polytheism; therefore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "O women! Give charity because you are seen in abundance in Hell."
(4) To enter Paradise, it is necessary and essential to be free from the impurity of polytheism, because Allah Almighty says:
﴿ إِنَّهُ مَنْ يُشْرِكْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ ﴾
"Indeed, whoever associates others with Allah, Paradise is forbidden for him."
Reference: (Al-Ma'idah: 72)
(5) The Prophet (peace be upon him) will intercede for every sinful follower except the polytheist.
(6) Some Muslim tribes and groups will distance themselves from Islam and join the polytheists, worshiping idols with them.
(7) Some people object based on a hadith that the Muslim Ummah can never fall into polytheism, and that hadith is:
”والله ما أتخوف عليكم أن تشركوا بعدي ولكن أخاف عليكم أن تنافسوا فيها“
By Allah! I do not fear that you will associate partners with Allah, but I fear that you will compete with one another for worldly gains.
Reference: Bukhari: Book of Menstruation: Chapter on Leaving Fasting of the Menstruating Woman (304)
Hafiz Ibn Hajar answers this objection:
”وان أصحابه لا يشركون بعده فكان ذلك“
Indeed, after the Prophet (peace be upon him), the Companions will not commit polytheism.
Reference: Bukhari: Book of Funerals: Chapter on Prayer for the Martyr (1344)
And in reality, this is what happened; no Companion committed polytheism. Therefore, the hadith addresses the Companions that no Companion will commit polytheism, but for other Muslims, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said that the tribes of his Ummah will join the polytheists and worship idols. Another answer to this objection is that the Muslim Ummah as a whole will not fall into polytheism, but in every era, there will be people who remain monotheists and continue to invite others to monotheism, and when these monotheists also pass away, the Hour will be established without delay.

Allama Badr al-Din Ayni Hanafi also adopted this answer:
” معناه على مجموعكم لان ذلك قد وقع من البعض والعياذ بالله تعالى“
The meaning of this hadith is that the Muslim Ummah as a whole will not take the path of polytheism because some people have already fallen into polytheism; may Allah protect us from it. (Ameen)

(8) Dhul-Khalasa was located in Maqam Zahraan in southern Taif. According to the prediction of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Muslims were indeed afflicted by the trial of worshiping it, but meanwhile, Allah raised a righteous and reforming servant, Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab, who, with the cooperation of Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad bin Saud, called to monotheism and powerfully destroyed this shrine and saved people from polytheism. Some sparks remained that wanted to rekindle the fire of polytheism, but Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud also destroyed them.

(9) Like other countries, in Pakistan too, the disease of polytheism has spread everywhere like a plague. Hundreds, even thousands, of shrines, tombs, and dargahs have been established where bowing and prostration, Hajj, and Tawaf are performed for beings other than Allah; vows and offerings are made for others besides Allah; wishes and prayers are asked; greetings are offered while coming and going; there is less fear of Allah and more fear of the "dead" instilled in the heart. The worst is that the government supports them, arranges security, provides opportunities for worship, and collects millions and billions in income every year without effort. If any sincere monotheist speaks the truth against this business of polytheism, he is labeled blasphemous and thrown behind bars. (May Allah protect us from that)
Respected Ameer Hamza Sahib describes the firsthand condition of Sultan Bahu's shrine in one of his books:
Upon permission, when I entered inside, there were only graves, and when I counted, there were nineteen. On some of these graves, wooden idols were placed, which were also for women. One idol was of a woman holding a child. There was a woman who had a wooden toy; after passing it over her body, she passed it over her children's bodies.
Further, it is mentioned: Behind the shrine, there is a berry tree under which men and women sit with their shawls and skirts spread out. Whoever finds a pistachio in his shawl believes he has been blessed with a daughter; whoever finds a berry in his skirt during the fruit season believes he has been blessed with a son.
(10) We should strive with all possible efforts to remain free from the contamination of polytheism so that we may be saved from entering the list of those unfortunate people for whom the mentioned prediction comes true and who will be deprived of the intercession of the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Judgment and will be cast headlong into Hell.
