Sign of the Day of Judgment: Fire Emerging from the Land of Hijaz
وعن أبى هريرة رضى الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : لا تقوم الساعة حتى تخرج نار من أرض الحجاز تضيء أعناق الإبل ببصرى
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his family) said: "Before the Day of Resurrection, a fire will emerge from Basra (a city in Syria) that will illuminate the necks of camels."

عن أبى ذر رضى الله عنه عن النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : ليت شعري متى تخرج نار من اليمن من جبل الورق تضيء منها أعناق الإبل ببصرى تضيء النهار
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) said: "I wish I knew when the fire would emerge from Jabal al-Waraq in Yemen, which will illuminate the necks of camels in Basra as if it were daylight."

(1) The emergence of fire from the land of Hijaz is a sign of the Day of Resurrection.
(2) This sign appeared in 654 AH, as Imam Nawawi states: In our time, a great fire flared up to the east of Medina, behind the city. People from the land of Sham and other countries have continuously been aware of it.

(3) Hafiz Ibn Kathir, Ibn Hajar, the commentator Qurtubi, and others all agree that this sign appeared in 654 AH.

(4) Some narrations mention that a fire will emerge which will drive people towards the Resurrection; this will be different from the aforementioned fire and will appear closer to the time of the Day of Judgment.
