❖ Question
I strongly dislike a girl, but my mother and siblings insisted and arranged my marriage with her. The only issue is that I have deep aversion towards her. We now also have a son. My mother’s displeasure prevents me from divorcing her. What is the Shar'i solution in this matter?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā baʿd!
✿ In such a situation, the best approach is:
➊ Consult with your mother and siblings, and try to resolve matters through mutual discussion.
➋ This is indeed the preferable path, as mentioned in the Qur’an:
﴿وَالصُّلْحُ خَیْرٌ﴾
(And reconciliation is better.)
✿ Therefore, you should adopt the path of reconciliation, understanding, and patience, while striving to keep your mother and other family members pleased.
✿ Convey greetings of peace to all brothers and friends.
