Is it permissible for a woman to cut her head hair?
Alḥamdulillāh, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. To proceed:
In the Sharī‘ah, the only time a woman is allowed to cut her head hair is:
✔ When exiting the state of Ihrām (i.e., after completing Ḥajj or ‘Umrah),
— in which case trimming a small portion of the hair (taqṣīr) is obligatory.
Outside of this specific case,
there is no evidence in the Qur’an or authentic Hadiths to permit a woman to cut her head hair willingly or as a regular practice.
Hence, routine haircutting, styling, or shortening of the hair—
whether for fashion, ease, or personal preference—
is not established from the Sunnah, and is therefore considered impermissible in normal circumstances.
