Order of Prayers: Zuhr Before ‘Asr – Shar‘i Guidance

Question:
If a person had missed Zuhr prayer but joined the Imam for ‘Asr, and after completing ‘Asr he offered the missed Zuhr, is this method correct?
Answer:
Alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ‘ala Rasulillah, amma ba‘d!
This method is valid, meaning the obligation of prayer is fulfilled.
However, the better and more preferable practice is that he should first offer the missed Zuhr, then perform ‘Asr, because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform the missed prayers in their proper order.
