Derived Benefits
"We did not do justice to our companions," has two meanings explained:
➊ If أنصفنا (first person plural past tense verb) is read, then it means that we Quraysh did not do justice to our Ansar brothers, as they kept advancing and getting martyred until seven of them were martyred.
➋ If this word is read as أنصفنا انصف (third person singular masculine past tense verb, and 'na' as object pronoun), then it means that the Quraysh did not do justice to us, as they scattered from the battlefield, while the Ansar (i.e., the seven who were with you) remained steadfast in the field until they drank the cup of martyrdom.
➌ Desire for martyrdom: When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, gave the glad tidings of Paradise to these seven devoted ones on the condition of steadfastness, they confirmed his statement and fought with eagerness for martyrdom, sacrificing their beloved lives.
➍ Proof of the definite Paradise of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him: From the mentioned hadith, the proof of the definite Paradise of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, is obtained, and it is clear from his statement ”هو رفيقي فى الجنة “.
