Question
If siblings prevent me from meeting and serving my mother, how can I fulfill my duty towards her in light of Qur’an and Sunnah?
Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʿammā baʿd!
✿ You should strive to please your brothers, especially the elder one who has taken your mother into his custody.
✿ If there has been any past mistake from your side, seek forgiveness from them with humility.
✿ By showing patience, kindness, and reconciliation, Allah al-Mannān (The Bestower) will, inshā’Allāh, open a way for you to serve your mother and relieve both you and her from this distress.
Conclusion:The path of patience, reconciliation, and humility is the way forward. Keep trying to maintain family ties, and continue honoring your mother with respect and service whenever possible. This is the means of attaining Allah’s pleasure and success on the Day of Judgment.
