Derived from: Fatāwā Amnapūrī by Shaykh Ghulām Mustafa Ẓahīr Amnapūrī
A person saw in a dream that he was engaging in intercourse with a woman. Upon waking, there were no signs of ejaculation. Is ghusl (ritual bath) obligatory in such a case?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʾAmma baʿd!
◈ If someone sees a dream involving sexual intercourse, but upon awakening finds no sign of ejaculation, ghusl is not obligatory.
◈ In such a scenario, he is not considered to have experienced a wet dream (iḥtilām), as the condition for ghusl is the actual occurrence of emission.
❀ ʿAllāmah Abū ʿAbdillāh al-Qurṭubī (رحمه الله) (d. 671 AH) states:
"If there is no ejaculation, even if one sees himself having intercourse (in a dream), ghusl is not required. There is no disagreement among the scholars on this matter."
(Tafsīr al-Qurṭubī, 5/205)
◈ No ghusl is required after a dream of intercourse unless ejaculation has occurred.
◈ This is a matter of consensus among scholars.
