❖ The Question

Has anyone ever seen Allah ﷻ with their eyes in this world?

❖ The Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd:

On the Day of Resurrection, the believers will indeed see Allah ﷻ, and that vision will be real and true. However, in this world, no one has seen Allah ﷻ with their eyes.

❀ Imām Abū Bakr al-Ismāʿīlī رحمه الله (d. 371H) said:
يعتقدون جواز الرؤية من العباد المتقين لله عز وجل فى القيامة، دون الدنيا
“Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah believe that the pious servants of Allah will see Him on the Day of Resurrection, but not in this world.”
(Iʿtiqād Aʾimmat al-Ḥadīth, p. 6362)

❀ Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (d. 728H) said:
الذي عليه أهل السنة قاطبة أن الله لم يره أحد بعينيه فى الدنيا
“The unanimous belief of Ahl al-Sunnah is that no one has seen Allah ﷻ with their eyes in this world.”
(Minhāj al-Sunnah, 3/349)

❖ Conclusion

It is the consensus of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah that Allah ﷻ will be seen in the Hereafter by the believers, but no one has ever seen Him with their eyes in this world.
