Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar Radi Allahu Anhuma narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
[إن الله جعل الحق على لسان عمر وقلبه]
Undoubtedly, Allah Almighty has established the truth on the tongue and heart of Umar.
Reference: (Sunan al-Tirmidhi:3682, Sahih Ibn Hibban:6895, and its chain is Hasan, and the hadith is authentic)
Sayyiduna Ali Radi Allahu Anhu says:
[ما كنا نبعد أن السكينة تنطق على لسان عمر]
We never considered it far-fetched that the tranquility of Sayyiduna Umar Radi Allahu Anhu would be established on his tongue.

Hafiz Nawawi Rahimahullah (676 AH) says:
[إتفقوا على تسميته بالفاروق]
The consensus of the scholars is that the title of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab Radi Allahu Anhu is 'Farooq'.

Hafiz Ibn Hajar Rahimahullah (852 AH) says:
[أما لقبه فهو الفاروق باتفاق]
The title of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab Radi Allahu Anhu is 'Farooq', and there is consensus on this among all the believers.

Farooq means the one who distinguishes between truth and falsehood.
