Hadith on the Sunnah of Fajr Adhan

"It is Sunnah that when the Mu'adhin reaches ‘Hayya ‘ala al-Falah’ in the Fajr Adhan, he should then say:
‘As-Salatu Khayrun Minan-Nawm, As-Salatu Khayrun Minan-Nawm’
(Prayer is better than sleep, Prayer is better than sleep)
Then he should complete the Adhan with ‘Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah’."
(Reported by Dar Qutni, Ibn Khuzaymah in his Sahih – but without mentioning the repetition.)

- Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah: 387
- Dar Qutni: 1/243
Key Lessons from the Hadith
➊ Saying "As-Salatu Khayrun Minan-Nawm" Twice in Fajr Adhan Is Sunnah
- This phrase should be said after ‘Hayya ‘ala al-Falah’ in the Fajr Adhan.
- If a Mu'adhin forgets to say it, the Adhan is still valid, and there is no issue.
âž‹ The Importance of Prayer Over Sleep
- Sleep is a necessity for human health, as it refreshes the body and strengthens immunity.
- However, excessive sleep can lead to laziness and harm one’s religious and worldly life.
- Prayer brings countless benefits, and increasing voluntary prayers (Nafl) leads to closeness with Allah.

"The Prophet (ï·º) commanded Bilal to repeat the phrases of Adhan twice and to say the Iqamah in a single form."
(Reported by An-Nasa’i, Bukhari, and Muslim: 378)

- Bukhari: 3457, 607, 603
