Is arguing a satanic act?
Yes, it is—because Allah Almighty states:
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّـهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّبِعُ كُلَّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّرِيدٍ ﴿٣﴾
“And among people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge and follows every rebellious devil.”
[Al-Ḥajj: 3]
In this verse, Allah condemns those who argue about Him without knowledge—those who:
✔ Deny resurrection after death,
✔ Reject Allah’s power to revive the dead,
✔ Turn away from the divine law revealed to the prophets (علیہم السلام).
Such individuals are described as:
❖ Followers of every rebellious devil, whether from jinn or humans.
❖ Adherents to the path of misguided leaders, those who oppose truth, and innovators who promote desires and heresies.
❖ Individuals who not only deny truth but also invite others to falsehood, all under Satanic influence.
Sayyidunā Ibn Masʿūd (رضي الله عنه) said:
“Abandon disputes, for they are futile and one cannot be safe from their tribulation.”
Imām Mālik (رحمه الله) stated:
“Argumentation hardens the hearts and breeds resentment.”
Bilāl bin Saʿd (رحمه الله) remarked:
“When you see someone constantly arguing and pleased with his own opinion, know that he is in complete loss.”
Argumentation without knowledge is a satanic act, leading to arrogance, hard-heartedness, and spiritual ruin. It diverts one from truth, fosters disunity, and aligns a person with the path of Shayṭān and his allies.
