Satan’s Deceptive Tactics and the Reality of the “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” Sect

Compiled by: Tauheed.com

Introduction

Satan is the eternal enemy of mankind. He constantly strives to mislead humans by every possible means:

  • He tempts the righteous by disguising evil as good,
  • And tempts the wicked by disguising evil as evil.

Most of his efforts target the people of truth, especially the Ahl al-Ḥadīth, because they face relentless opposition from all sides. When one front is closed, another opens.

Satanic Tactic: Using Outsiders and Then False “Qur’an and Hadith” Claimants

Initially, Satan deploys outsiders to defeat the Ahl al-Ḥadīth, but when he sees that they are unsuccessful, he finds someone who claims to speak in the name of Qur’an and Ḥadīth to harm the Ahl al-Ḥadīth from within.

Masood B.Sc. from Karachi has fallen into this satanic trap. Satan uses him because of his naivety and lack of understanding, making him a source of fitnah for the religious people. Though he claims to use the Qur’an and Ḥadīth, in reality, he opposes the Ahl al-Ḥadīth. If Masood Sahib was not under Satan’s control, he would never oppose the Ahl al-Ḥadīth.

A Contrasting Example: The “Ghuraba” (Strangers)

It should be noted that the “Ghuraba” also formed their own group and chain but never opposed the Ahl al-Ḥadīth. They remained distinct under their name “Ghuraba” without breaking ties with the group of truth.

If Masood Sahib had intellect, he would realize that since the Ahl al-Ḥadīth accept the Qur’an and Ḥadīth and he also claims to follow them, why oppose them? If there was any disagreement with an individual, it should be resolved through dialogue, not by opposing the entire group.

Now, Masood Sahib is determined to oppose the Ahl al-Ḥadīth and sees opposition as his success. Due to his ignorance and prejudice, he labels the Ahl al-Ḥadīth as innovators and misled and portrays himself as the “people of truth” to cause distrust among others. But clearly, one who hates the Ahl al-Ḥadīth has nowhere to go. Advancement means becoming Ahl al-Ḥadīth; where else can one progress beyond them?

“Then what is after the truth but error? How are you turned away?”

After Ahl al-Ḥadīth, Only Misguidance Remains

This is Satan’s plan: first sow doubt in the truth, then turn people away from it. When a person turns away, Satan makes him his tool.

“Then he broke away from them, and Satan followed him, so he became of the deviators.”

The “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” Trap

Masood Sahib has created a trap called “Jamaat al-Muslimeen,” which is impressive and very appealing. He attempts to trap the Ahl al-Ḥadīth by citing Qur’an and Ḥadīth and says:

  • “Ahl al-Ḥadīth is a sectarian name, therefore illegitimate.”
  • “Jamaat al-Muslimeen is an ancient group mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim and is the original group, whereas Ahl al-Ḥadīth was formed later in the Indian subcontinent.”

However, the truth is that this new “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” has no historical foundation or roots. Masood Sahib founded it in 1385 Hijri. It is purely a 20th-century creation, even after the appearance of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani, emerging at a time of great tribulations and decline. Just imagine — a group founded in the 20th century after Mirza Qadiani’s era — how authentic can that be?

Deceptive Name: The Misinterpretation of “Jamaat al-Muslimeen”

Masood Sahib is like a grocer who found some turmeric and immediately opened a shop. Upon seeing the term “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” in some ḥadīth, he hastily formed a new sect under that name.

He did not consider that the term does not carry the meaning he assigned to it. If the ḥadīth really referred to that specific sect, would the Prophet ﷺ have only commanded women to attend Eid prayers with the “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” and not men? The ḥadīth explicitly says:

“فَيَشْهَدْنَ جَمَاعَةَ المُسْلِمِينَ”
(So the women should attend the congregation of Muslims)

Bukhari, Book of Eids, Chapter: Separation of menstruating women from the praying congregation, p.77, Hadith no. 981

If that was the sect Masood Sahib founded in the 20th century, why would the Prophet ﷺ restrict the command to women only? Why did the great scholars and compilers of ḥadīth never form such a sect or name? If they saw the term “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” and understood it as Masood Sahib claims, why did they never create such a sect?

This shows that the term does not mean what Masood Sahib forcibly attributed to it.

Contradiction in Masood Sahib’s Own Writings

On one hand, Masood Sahib tries to link his group to the “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” of Bukhari and Muslim, but on the other hand, in his writing “Background of Jamaat al-Muslimeen,” he admits:

“A few sincere men founded Jamaat al-Muslimeen in 1385 Hijri to reform the people of truth.”

So if this group was first established in 1385 Hijri, what about before that? Were there no “people of truth”? Are they still present? If not, how did this new Jamaat claim to reform all of them who were misguided?

If the Jamaat existed before 1385 Hijri, then why claim it was founded anew? If he claims it existed elsewhere, then where and under whose leadership? What books did they produce? Were they authenticated with “approved stamps” like those of the past scholars?

The reality is that there is no proof, so it must be accepted that this is a new sect founded at the end of the 20th century with no connection to the original “Jamaat al-Muslimeen.”

The True Jamaat al-Muslimeen is the Ahl al-Ḥadīth

If Masood Sahib had any wisdom, he would have admitted that the Ahl al-Ḥadīth are the true Jamaat al-Muslimeen mentioned in Bukhari and Muslim, with deep roots, a glorious past, and a bright future. When Jesus (ʿĪsā) and Imam Mahdi return, they will follow this sect because it is the true Islam.

Masood Sahib claims:

“We are the real Jamaat al-Muslimeen without any sectarian name, only ‘Muslim’ which Allah has chosen.”

But if this were true, why did he need to found a new group in 1385 Hijri? It would have already existed.

Furthermore, their beliefs and appointments differ from the earlier Jamaat al-Muslimeen of the good early centuries. That group never claimed that no other name but “Muslim” was permissible. If they had, their scholars would have recorded it. The Prophet ﷺ, when mentioning sects and the saved group, never called it “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” but said:

“مَا أَنَا عَلَيْهِ وَأَصْحَابِي”
(What I and my companions are upon)

Mishkat, Book of Faith, Chapter on holding fast to the Book and Sunnah, Hadith no. 171

This proves clearly that Masood Sahib’s new Jamaat al-Muslimeen is baseless. No group of truth has ever said that all other names are misguidance. This claim was made for the first time by Masood Sahib.

What’s in a Name?

Masood Sahib, if you say your group’s name is the same “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” as in Bukhari and Muslim, then mere similarity of name does not prove authenticity. Fake things often carry the names of originals. That’s why one should not be deceived by names but judge by characteristics whether something is genuine or forged.

Look how Mirza Qadiani called himself “Masīḥ Mūʿūd” by picking ḥadīths. Many false claimants appeared under the name “Mahdi.” You should learn from these examples. If your group were authentic, it would have continued generation after generation. Yet it was only founded in 1385 Hijri.

Using the Name “Muslimeen” and Its Consequences

Masood Sahib often argues:

“Our name is Muslim, which Allah has chosen, and we consider any other name sectarian.”

But then, how many Jews and Christians have become Muslims? How many people worldwide are called Muslims? Are they all one group?

He insists on the name but ignores the true Islam. He opposes the Ahl al-Ḥadīth and considers his new sect the people of truth. The world has witnessed for centuries who has defended the truth and fought falsehood: the Ahl al-Ḥadīth, the true protectors of the Qur’an and Sunnah. You cannot hide this fact.

New Sect or the Vacuum Problem?

Masood Sahib should admit: if there was no Jamaat al-Muslimeen before him, then who were the people of truth for all those centuries? Was the entire Ummah misguided?

If he says the Ahl al-Ḥadīth were not the people of truth, then who were? If none were, then where was the truth? If he accepts the Ahl al-Ḥadīth as the people of truth, then why form a new sect opposing them in 1385 Hijri?

The Prophet ﷺ said the people of truth will always remain:

“لَا تَزَالُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أُمَّتِي…”
(A group of my Ummah will always remain…)

Bukhari, Book of Holding Fast to the Book and Sunnah, Hadith no. 7311

It is impossible that there was ever a time when the people of truth ceased to exist, forcing you to establish a new Jamaat al-Muslimeen.

Simple Principle of the Qur’an and Sunnah: Follow the Salaf

The Qur’an repeatedly instructs one to follow the righteous predecessors (Salaf) and the way of the Companions, warning that innovation leads to Satan’s trap.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ ذِئْبُ الْإِنْسَانِ كَذِئْبِ الْغَنَمِ يَأْخُذُ الشَّاذَّةَ وَالْقَاصِيَةَ وَالنَّاحِيَةَ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالْجَمَاعَةِ وَالْعَامَّةِ”

Meaning: Satan is like a wolf to humans as it is to sheep; it attacks the stray, the far, and the isolated. Therefore, you must hold fast to the group and the general community.

Mishkat, Book of Faith, Hadith no. 184; Musnad Ahmad

Conclusion: Opposition to Ahl al-Ḥadīth – Masood Sahib’s Self-Destruction

Masood Sahib’s real problem is that he knows well that the Ahl al-Ḥadīth are the people of truth, yet he considers opposing them his success. Hence, he labels them innovators and misguided. One can criticize followers, but the Ahl al-Ḥadīth merely follow the Qur’an and Sunnah. How can they be innovators?

Satan has trapped him in this new “Jamaat al-Muslimeen.” Departing from the Salaf’s path, he now imagines himself the “leader of Jamaat al-Muslimeen.” He has taken a wrong path, twisting every argument in his favor.

Wisdom and Knowledge About “Jamaat al-Muslimeen”

A sincere religious person would avoid establishing a new “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” because this name, though attractive, is tantamount to creating a new sect within Muslims.

You may gain some advantage against non-Muslims, but calling your group “Muslimeen” causes hatred among Muslims, implying others are not Muslims. This breeds division, arrogance, and sectarianism. Jamaat Islami faced similar objections. Sadly, Masood Sahib has ignored this.

Twisting Qur’an and Ḥadīth for Sectarian Ends

Masood Sahib misuses Qur’anic verses and Ḥadīth for his group, twisting their meanings to present his Jamaat al-Muslimeen as Allah’s only true saving ship. He bends interpretation according to his desires.

Why Insist on a Group Founded in 1385 Hijri?

Your group was founded in 1385 Hijri, a fact witnessed by the entire Ummah. Yet you insist it is ancient and original. If it was truly old, why was it founded anew? It is an innovation, a new sect with no roots except misguidance.

Your claim that “we alone are the real Muslims; the rest of the Ummah is misguided” recalls the distortions of Mirza Qadiani’s false interpretations.

Consequences of Denying Reality

No matter how much you polish a lie, it remains a lie. Your Jamaat al-Muslimeen is a 20th-century invention. It is false, not ancient. But you insist otherwise. When questioned, how can you explain opening a new “shop” in the modern era and calling it ancient? Just taking the name “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” does not prove authenticity.

This is like someone claiming to be a Sayyid but just recently acquired the title, while a true Sayyid’s lineage runs generation after generation.

Misusing Qur’anic Evidence Based on Misunderstanding

You say:

“(هُوَ سَمَّاكُمُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ) means only the name ‘Muslim’ is permissible.”

But this is ignorance. The Qur’an does not state that no other descriptive or identifying name is allowed besides “Muslim.” You must show one clear verse or ḥadīth that forbids any other title. No such evidence exists. Names can be descriptive or legal titles.

Sectarianism does not arise from names but from changing religion. If the creed is one, having multiple names does not harm. The important thing is belief, not name. A good name with wrong belief benefits no one — e.g., Shias call themselves “Mu’minīn” but their belief is flawed.

Ignorance and Wrong Translations

Your magazine Muslim shows your unfamiliarity with these fundamental matters. You translate Qur’anic verses strangely.

“Are you (just) willing to call yourselves Muslims?”

This does not fit the context and exposes your biased mindset.

Warning: Return to the Truth

If you persist, it is likely that Allah will lead you into further sins.

The best solution is to repent immediately:

  • Change your group’s name. The name “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” is the root of your misguidance.
  • Cease opposing the Ahl al-Ḥadīth.
  • If you stop opposing them, you may avoid twisting Qur’an and Ḥadīth texts. The main reason for your flawed interpretations is departing from the Ahl al-Ḥadīth’s path. Your evident errors in the magazine Muslim result from this.

“So when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate, and Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.”

May this not be your fate.

Final Words

Those who have preserved Islam and Tawḥīd from the best of generations till today are the Ahl al-Ḥadīth. Leaving their group and forming a new “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” causes immense scholarly loss, leading to the insertion of your mental confusions into the texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“People will appoint ignorant leaders who will issue rulings without knowledge, causing themselves and others to go astray.”

Bukhari, Book of Knowledge, Hadith no. 100

People appoint ignorant leaders and thus lead themselves and others astray. Though you may be sincere, your method causes corruption. By forming this new sect and opposing the people of truth, you have introduced a completely new entity.

Remember Allah’s statement:

“Indeed Satan caused them to slip due to some of what they earned.”

When a servant does not cease from one sin, Satan leads him to further evils. Therefore, it is best to return quickly, lest your entire “Jamaat al-Muslimeen” enterprise remains a baseless innovation.

And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
