❖ Question:
If alcohol (khamr) gets on clothing, is it permissible to offer prayer without washing it? And is alcohol considered pure or impure in Islamic law?
❖ Answer:
There is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding the impurity (najāsah) of alcohol (khamr).
- However, the safer and more precautionary opinion is that if alcohol touches one’s clothing, the affected area should be washed before performing Salah.
❖ Summary:
❖ There is scholarly disagreement on whether alcohol is najis (impure).
❖ For the purpose of Salah, it is better and safer to wash any part of the clothing that has come into contact with alcohol.
