❀ Question:

What is the ruling on performing Sajdah Shukr (prostration of gratitude) upon seeing a person in distress?

❀ Answer:

There is no Sharʿi evidence for performing Sajdah Shukr in this situation.
However, it is prescribed to recite the supplication upon seeing someone afflicted.

Narration of ʿUmar ibn al-Khattab (RA):
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whoever sees a person afflicted with calamity and recites the following supplication, he will remain protected from that affliction as long as he lives:

الحمد لله الذى عافاني مما ابتلى هذا به وفضلني عليه وعلى كثير ممن خلق تفضيلا

"All praise is due to Allah, Who has protected me from what He has afflicted him with, and favored me over many of His creation."
