A person has fallen ill. After relieving himself, he carefully performs purification, not only with water but also rubbing the body with soil to ensure cleanliness. Despite this, at times his clothes still appear impure, and in such a state he has also performed ṣalāh. The question is: if his clothes were impure but he was unaware of it, will the prayer performed in such a condition be valid or not?
(Questioner: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad, may Allah pardon him)
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!
Since the questioner is afflicted with illness, and due to this sickness such situations occur, he will fall under the ruling of a Sharʿī Maʿdhūr (legally excused person).
✔ If, due to this condition, he performed ṣalāh without knowledge of the impurity, then:
◈ The prayer will be considered valid.
◈ There is no need to repeat such a prayer.
However:
◈ He should exercise maximum precaution.
◈ Before beginning prayer, he should examine carefully and try his best to ensure the clothes are clean.
