Ruling on Offering Prayer on the Roof of a Mosque

📚 Source: Ahkam wa Masail in the Light of Qur’an and Hadith, Volume 02

âť– Question

Is it permissible to perform Salah on the roof of a mosque? A certain scholar claims that it is not allowed.

âť– Answer

It is permissible to offer Salah on the roof of any mosque.

Evidence:
“Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) performed prayer on the roof of the mosque.”

(Sahih al-Bukhari, Volume 1)

The prohibition applies only to the roof of the Ka'bah (Baytullah). It appears the mentioned scholar may have confused the general ruling with this specific exception.
