❀ Moving the Index Finger Between the Two Sajdahs ❀

Regarding the movement of the index finger (shahādah finger) during the sitting between the two prostrations (sajdatayn), there is no authentic or conclusive narration known that establishes this practice as part of the Sunnah.

Only Referenced Report:

There is a narration attributed to Sayyidunā Wāʾil ibn Ḥujr رضي الله عنه, which mentions movement of the index finger between the two sajdahs. However:

➤ This narration is considered shādh (anomalous) and not widely accepted in Hadith scholarship.
Shaykh al-Albānī رحمه الله, while preferring this report, still acknowledges that it is not established through multiple or widely transmitted authentic chains.

✅ Conclusion:

There is no reliable and binding evidence supporting the practice of moving the index finger between the two prostrations.
✔ While Shaykh al-Albānī رحمه الله gave preference to the narration of Wāʾil ibn Ḥujr, the majority of scholars have not adopted this practice due to the weakness and isolated nature of the report.
✔ Hence, it is not considered a part of the established Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ in Salah.
