Timing for Spending the Night in Mina: Ruling on Leaving at Midnight
Source: Fatāwā Arkān al-Islām
What is the ruling for a person who stays in Mina until midnight and then enters Makkah after Fajr?
Alḥamdulillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
◈ If midnight in Mina is calculated as after the halfway point of the night, then leaving Mina after this time is permissible.
◈ However, it is clear that spending both the night and the day in Mina is more virtuous.
◈ But if midnight in Mina is calculated as before the halfway point of the night, then one should not leave Mina at that time.
◈ This is because the condition for spending the night in Mina is that most of the night must be spent there, as explained by our jurists.
