What is the ruling on eating locusts (ṭidī dil)?


❖ Answer​


Locusts are ḥalāl (permissible) to eat. This is established through authentic aḥādīth and the consensus (ijmāʿ) of the Ummah.


❖ Scholarly Consensus​


Imām al-Qurṭubī (d. 671H):
((لم يختلف العلماء فى أكله على الجملة))
“The scholars have no disagreement, in general, regarding the permissibility of eating locusts.”
Tafsīr al-Qurṭubī 7/268
