Question:
What is the ruling on one who denies the pillars of Islam?
Answer:
Islam has five pillars. Denying any one of them constitutes kufr (disbelief).
❀ Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله (728H) said:
قد اتفق المسلمون على أن من جحد وجوب مباني الإسلام الخمس الشهادتين والصلوات الخمس والزكاة وصيام شهر رمضان وحج البيت، فإنه كافر.
“The Muslims are unanimously agreed that whoever denies the obligation of the five foundations of Islam — the two testimonies of faith, the five daily prayers, zakāt, fasting the month of Ramaḍān, and the pilgrimage to the House — is a disbeliever.”
