Ruling on Collective Duʿāʾ After Obligatory Ṣalāh in Light of Ḥadīth

Source: Aḥkām wa Masāʾil, Discussion on Ṣalāh, Vol. 1, p. 212

❖ Question:

Is it permissible to make collective duʿāʾ after obligatory prayers?

❖ Answer:

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʿammā baʿd!

  • Making duʿāʾ after obligatory prayers (ṣalāh maktūbah) is indeed proven from the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
  • The Prophet ﷺ also encouraged making duʿāʾ after ṣalāh.

However:

  • Raising the hands for this duʿāʾ is not proven by any authentic (ṣaḥīḥ) or sound (ḥasan) marfūʿ ḥadīth.

✅ Conclusion

  • Duʿāʾ after obligatory ṣalāh is Sunnah and encouraged.
  • But raising hands for this duʿāʾ has no authentic ḥadīth evidence.
