Rhymed prayer, quick acceptance, if you wish say it, and a prayer to avoid laziness

This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.

Prohibition of Making Dua at the End of a Rhymed Speech​

① It is narrated from Ikramah, may Allah have mercy on him, that Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:
حدث الناس كل جمعة مرة ، فإن أبيت فمرتين ، فإن أكثرت فثلاث مرات ، ولا تمل الناس هذا القرآن ، ولا ألفينك تأتي القوم وهم فى حديث من حديثهم فتقص عليهم فتقطع عليهم حديثهم فتملهم ، ولكن أنصت ، فإذا أمروك فحدثهم وهم يشتهونه ، وانظر السجع من الدعاء فاجتنبه
“Address the people (with admonition and advice) every Friday; if you do not accept this, then twice; if you want to preach more, then three times (a week). Do not make the people bored with this Qur’an. I would never want to find you coming to the people while they are engaged in their conversation and you interrupt their talk to start your own and make them annoyed. Rather, remain silent; when they ask you to speak and are eager for it, then speak to them, and avoid making dua at the end of a rhymed speech.”

Prohibition of Hastening for the Acceptance of Dua​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
يستجاب لأحدكم ما لم يعجل ، يقول : قد دعوت فلم يستجب لي
"Every one of you will have his supplication accepted as long as he does not hurry and say: I prayed but it was not accepted."

Prohibition of a person saying "O Allah! If You wish, then forgive"​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
لا يقولن أحدكم اللهم اغفر لي إن شئت اللهم ارحمني إن شئت ، فليعزم المسألة فإنه لا مكره له
"None of you should say: O Allah! If You will, then forgive me; O Allah! If You will, then have mercy on me. Rather, ask with firm resolve, for no one can compel Him."

② Sayyiduna Anas (RA) reports that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
إذا دعا أحدكم فليعزم المسألة ولا يقولن : اللهم إن شئت فأعطني ، فإنه لا مستكره له
"When any of you prays, let him ask with firm resolve and not say: O Allah! If You will, then grant me, for no one can compel Him."

Prayer to Avoid Laziness​

① Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم used to supplicate:
اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل ، والجبن والهرم والبخل ، وأعوذ بك من عذاب القبر وفتنة المحيا والممات
"O Allah! I seek refuge in You from weakness, laziness, cowardice, old age, and miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave and the trials of life and death."
