Question:
I am a person who faces many trials — what will be my reward?
Answer:
① Ḥaḍrat Jābir ibn ʿAbdullāh رضي الله عنهما narrates that the Noble Prophet ﷺ said:
«يود ناس يوم القيامة أن جلودهم كانت تقرض بالمقاريض فى الدنيا، لما يرون من ثواب أهل البلاء»
“On the Day of Resurrection, some people will wish that their skins had been cut with scissors in the world — (this wish will arise) when they see the reward given to those who were tested.”
[Ḥasan — Sunan al-Tirmidhī, Kitāb al-Zuhd, ḥadīth 2402; Ṣaḥīḥ al-Jāmiʿ, ḥadīth 5484 — graded ḥasan by Shaykh al-Albānī رحمه الله]
② Ḥaḍrat Anas ibn Mālik رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:
«عظم الجزاء مع عظم البلاء، وإن الله إذا أحب قوما ابتلاهم فمن رضي فله الرضا، ومن سخط فله السخط»
“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial, and indeed when Allāh loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is content (with His decree) will have His pleasure, and whoever is displeased will have His displeasure.”
[Ḥasan — Sunan al-Tirmidhī, Kitāb al-Zuhd, ḥadīth 2396; Sunan Ibn Mājah, Kitāb al-Fitan, ḥadīth 4031]
