❀ What is the Ruling on Staying Bareheaded?

◈ Sayyidunā ʿAmr ibn Ḥarith رضي الله عنه said:

The Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon while wearing a black turban, and he had left its ends hanging between his shoulders.
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 1359, Dār al-Salām: 3312)

◈ Sayyidunā Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh رضي الله عنه narrated:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered Makkah on the day of the Conquest without being in the state of Ihram, and he was wearing a black turban.
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 1358, Dār al-Salām: 3309)

◈ Sayyidunā ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما said:

The Prophet ﷺ addressed the people while wearing a blackish-colored turban.
(Shamā'il al-Tirmidhī: 95 – Chain: Ḥasan)

◈ The Prophet ﷺ once tied a white turban on a companion’s head.
(See: al-Mustadrak by al-Ḥākim 4/540, 8623; Itḥāf al-Murah 80/590, 10015 – Chain: Ḥasan. Al-Ḥākim graded it authentic and al-Dhahabī agreed)

◈ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to wipe (do masḥ) over his turban.
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 205, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 274, Dār al-Salām: 633, 634, 636)

◈ The Noble Companions also used to cover their heads with turbans, for example:

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنهما
(Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim: 2552, Dār al-Salām: 6513–6515)

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAtīk رضي الله عنه
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 4039)

ʿUbaydullāh ibn ʿAdī ibn al-Khiẓār رضي الله عنه
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī: 4072)

◈ Many of the great Tābiʿīn (successors of the companions) are also reported to have worn black turbans.
(See: Muṣannaf Ibn Abī Shaybah 8/236–237, 24952–24961)

✅ Conclusion:

The practice of wearing turbans by the noble companions and the great successors is a result of the training and example of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Have we ever reflected on this aspect of the noble Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ?

And are we ready to revive and adopt this practice in our own lives?
