Respect for the Prophet ﷺ Equivalent to an Elder Brother

Written by: Maulana Abu al-Hasan Mubashir Ahmad Rabbani

Question:

I have heard that Ahl-e-Hadith show as much respect to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) as they do to an elder brother. Is this correct?

Answer:

The statement that Wahhabis respect the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) only as much as they respect an elder brother is completely false. The proof against this claim is that we consider the Prophet (ﷺ) to be the Messenger of Allah, and we believe that obedience and following him are obligatory. How can anyone consider their elder brother to be the Messenger of Allah?

"Subhanaka hatha buhtanun azeem"

(Glory be to You; this is a great slander).
