This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
كل أمتي يدخلون الجنة إلا من أبى
“All of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse.”
The noble Companions رضي الله عنهم asked: Who will refuse? The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من أطاعني دخل الجنة ومن عصاني فقد أبى
“Whoever obeys me will enter Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.”

① Sayyiduna Arabad bin Sariyah رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم delivered a sermon that made hearts tremble and tears flow from the eyes. We said: O Messenger of Allah! It seems this is a farewell advice, so please give us some counsel. He صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
أوصيكم بتقوى الله، والسمع والطاعة، وإن تأمر عليكم عبد، فإنه من يعش منكم فسيرى اختلافا كثيرا، فعليكم بسنتي وسنة الخلفاء الراشدين المهديين، عضوا عليها بالنواجذ، وإياكم ومحدثات الأمور، فإن كل بدعة ضلالة
"I advise you to fear Allah and to listen and obey, even if a slave is put in charge over you, because the one among you who lives will see much discord. So hold firmly to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs, cling to it with your molar teeth, and avoid newly invented matters in religion, for every innovation is misguidance."

② Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrates that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من ابتدع بدعة ضلالة لا يرضاها الله ورسوله كان عليه مثل آثام من عمل بها لا ينقص ذلك من أوزار الناس شيئا
"Whoever introduces a practice that Allah and His Messenger do not approve of, then the sin of those who act upon that innovation will be upon him (the one who introduced it), and it will not lessen the sins of the people."

① Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrates that three men came to the wives of the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم to ask about the worship of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. When they were informed, it seemed to them insufficient, so they said: What relation do we have with our Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم? All his past and future sins have been forgiven. One of them said: As for me, I will pray all night long. The second said: I will fast continuously and will not break my fast. The third said: I will stay away from women and never marry.
Then the Prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم came to them and said:
أنتم الذين قلتم كذا وكذا؟ أما والله إني لأخشاكم لله وأتقاكم له، ولكني أصوم وأفطر، وأصلي وأرقد، وأتزوج النساء، فمن رغب عن سنتي فليس مني
"Did you say this? By Allah! I am more fearful of Allah and more conscious of Him than you, but I fast and I break my fast, I pray and I sleep, and I marry women. So whoever turns away from my Sunnah is not from me."

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Saeed رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لتتبعن سنن من كان قبلكم شبرا بشبر وذراعا بذراع حتى لو دخلوا جحر ضب تبعتموهم
"You will follow the ways of those who came before you step by step and hand by hand, so much so that if they entered into the den of a lizard, you too would enter it."
We asked: O Messenger of Allah! Do you mean the Jews and Christians by the people who came before? He صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
فمن؟
"Then who else could they be?"

② It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Laythi رضي الله عنه that when the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم set out for the Battle of Hunayn, he passed by a tree called Dhatu Anwat, near which the polytheists used to hang their weapons. The Companions رضي الله عنهم said: O Messenger of Allah! Just as they have a tree called Dhatu Anwat here, appoint a Dhatu Anwat for us as well (so that for the sake of blessing we can also hang our weapons on it). The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
سبحالن اله! هذا كما قال قوم موسى: ﴿اجْعَل لَّنَا إِلَٰهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ آلِهَةٌ﴾ والذي نفسي بيده لتركبن سنة من كان قبلكم
"SubhanAllah! This is just like the people of Musa عليه السلام said: appoint for us a god like their gods. By the One in Whose hand is my soul! You will follow the ways of those who came before you."
