Can a Follower Recite Aloud in Jahri Prayers?
Source: Fatāwā Amanpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amanpuri
Question:
Can the follower (muqtadi) recite aloud in the prayers where the Imam recites aloud?
Answer:
In the prayers where the Imam recites aloud, the follower should not recite aloud. Rather, he should recite Sūrah al-Fātiḥah in a low voice and then remain silent, listening to the Imam’s recitation.
❀ Ḥāfiẓ Nawawī رحمه الله (d. 676H) said:
أما المأموم فلا يجهر فى شيء من هذا بالإجماع.
"As for the follower, he does not recite aloud in any of these (jahri prayers), and there is consensus on this."
