❖ Question:

Is there any authentic report indicating that ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud (RA) did not perform Rafʿ al-Yadayn at any point?

❖ Answer:

Imam al-Bukhari رحمه الله, in his renowned treatise “Juzʾ Rafʿ al-Yadayn”, mentioned the general practice of the Companions (رضي الله عنهم) regarding Rafʿ al-Yadayn (raising the hands in Salah). In doing so, he cited the statements of Humayd ibn Hilal and Hasan al-Basri رحمهما الله.

According to their statements:

"The Companions used to perform Rafʿ al-Yadayn."

Imam al-Bukhari explicitly stated that no Companion was excluded from this practice in these narrations—not even a single one was mentioned as having abstained from Rafʿ al-Yadayn.

❖ Summary:

There is no authentic evidence to prove that ʿAbdullah ibn Masʿud (RA) ever abandoned Rafʿ al-Yadayn at any point. The statements of Imam al-Bukhari and other scholars affirm that the Companions regularly practiced Rafʿ al-Yadayn, and no individual exception has been recorded in this matter.
