قُلْ هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
Translation:
Say to them, “If you are truthful, then bring forth your proof.”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 111)
In his book Ahkam al-Usul al-Ahkam, Imam Ibn Hazm رحمه الله establishes a chapter titled:
"What Allah the Exalted Said Regarding the Invalidity of Taqleed"
He cites the verse:
قُلْ هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
Then he states:
قال ابو محمد رحمه الله:
فمن لم يأت بكتاب الله تعالى شاهدا لقوله، او برهان على صدق قوله، والا فليس صادقا، ولكنه كاذب افك،
Translation:
Abu Muhammad رحمه الله says:
Whoever does not present from the Book of Allah a testimony for his statement, or a proof for the truth of his claim — then he is not truthful. Rather, he is a liar and a great fabricator.

Regarding the verse:
قُلْ هَاتُوا بُرْهَانَكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
قال غزالی رحمہ اللہ:
هذا كله نهي عن التقليد
Translation:
Imam Al-Ghazali رحمه الله says:
This entire verse is a prohibition against blind following (taqleed).

Imam Al-Suyuti رحمه الله says:
This entire verse is a prohibition against blind following (taqleed).

◈ Imam Ibn Hazm رحمه الله – Rejection of Taqleed
