Is the Qur’an a Creation or an Attribute? And the Ruling on Swearing by It

❖ Question
Is the Qur’an a creation of Allah or His attribute? If it is an attribute, can one swear an oath by the Qur’an or not?
❖ Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, Ammā Baʿd!
✿ The Noble Qur’an is the Speech of Allah (Kalāmullāh), and it is His attribute.
✿ Therefore, it is permissible to swear an oath by the Qur’an, considering it as the attribute of Allah.
✿ However, the physical pages, covers, and ink of the Qur’an fall under creation, as these are material entities.
