Promoting Sunnah with Gentleness and Good Character

Question
In order to promote the Sunnah within one’s community or tribe, while engaging in da‘wah, there arises a need for adopting good manners, gentleness, and a pleasant approach. Convincing someone is indeed a very difficult task, and there is also the risk that while striving to guide others to the straight path, one may oneself go astray.
At times, one even has to go to their mosque and perform prayer behind their imām. Sometimes, if we accept some of their words, they come closer; otherwise, if we insist only on our own stance, they are not willing to listen at all.
Therefore, I request guidance regarding da‘wah, so that this mental anxiety can be relieved and so that the religion is not restricted only to ourselves. Thank you.
Answer
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa as-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh, ammā ba‘d!
One should adopt the way of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
﴿لَقَدْ کَانَ لَکُمْ فِیْ رَسُوْلِ اﷲِ اُسْوَۃٌ حَسَنَۃٌ﴾
[Al-Aḥzāb 21]
[Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example.]
ھذا ما عندي والله أعلم بالصواب
