Prohibition of the price of dogs and cats, the wages of slaves, the fees of soothsayers, and the hire of a camel pair

This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, which has been translated into Urdu by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Prohibition of Charging a Price for Dogs and Cats​

① Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade charging a price for a dog. If someone comes demanding a price for a dog, fill his hands with dust.

② Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade eating cats and their price.

Prohibition of Withholding Sustenance from Slaves​

① Sayyiduna Khaythamah bin Abdul Rahman bin Abi Sabrah, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates that we saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, and the person responsible for keeping the account of his income and expenses came to him. He asked: Have you given the servants their wages? He said: No! He said: Go and give it to them because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
كفى بالمرء إثما أن يحبس عمن يملك قوته
“The sin sufficient for a man is that he withholds the wages of his servant.”

② Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
كفى بالمرء إثما أن يضيع من يقوت
“The sin sufficient for the destruction of a man is that he wastes those whose food is his responsibility.”

Prohibition of Paying Wages to a Sorcerer​

① Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه states that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade the price of a dog, the wage of a prostitute, and the food of a soothsayer.

Prohibition of taking wages for pairing a camel with a she-camel​

① Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه states that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade taking wages for pairing a camel with a she-camel, selling water, and renting out land for cultivation.
