This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mosuli, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
بادروا بالأعمال فتنا كقطع الليل المظلم، يصبح الرجل مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا، ويمسي مؤمنا ويصبح كافرا، يبيع دينه بعرض من الدنيا
"Hasten to do good deeds, for soon there will appear trials like pieces of a dark night; a man will be a believer in the morning and a disbeliever by the evening, and a believer in the evening and a disbeliever by the morning, and he will sell his religion for the sake of worldly wealth."

① Urfajah bin Shuraih narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say:
ستكون هنات وهنات، فمن أراد أن يفرق أمر هذه الأمة وهى جميع فاضربوه بالسيف
“Soon calamities will come and evil will spread, so whoever tries to create division in this Ummah while they are united, kill him with the sword.”
And in another narration, the Prophet, peace be upon him, was addressing the people from the pulpit and said:
إنها ستكون بعدي هنات وهنات، فمن رأيتموه فارق الجماعة أو يريد تفريق أمة محمد كائنا من كان فاقتلوه، فإن يد الله على الجماعة، وإن الشيطان مع من فارق الجماعة يركض
“Soon after me calamities will come, so if you see anyone separating from the group or intending to create division in the Ummah of Muhammad, peace be upon him, whoever he may be, kill him, because the hand of Allah is with the group, while the one who separates from the group is with Satan, he is separate.”

② Sayyiduna Usama bin Sharik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
أيما رجل خرج يفرق بين أمتي فاضربوا عنقه
“Whoever sets out to create division in my Ummah, strike his neck (kill him).”

① Sayyiduna Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
ما ضل قوم بعد هدى كانوا عليه إلا أوتوا الجدل
“No people become misguided after being guided except that they become quarrelsome (to prove false as true).”
Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم recited the verse:
﴿مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًا ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ ﴾
“They could present no argument before you except that they argued (quarreled), for they are a contentious people.”
