Prohibition of selling musical instruments and raw fruits, selling to outsiders, and meeting with members of the caravan

This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Prohibition of Selling Musical Instruments​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Imamah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لا تبيعوا القينات المغنيات ولا تشتروهن ولا تعلموهن ، ولا خير فى تجارة فيهن وثمنهن حرام، وفي مثل هذا أنزلت:
"Do not sell musical instruments, nor buy them, nor teach them; there is no good in their trade and their price is unlawful. And regarding this, this verse was revealed: And there are some people who buy singing and musical instruments."

Prohibition of Selling Fruits Before They Ripen​

﴿وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ﴾

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before their ripening ability became apparent, and when he was asked about its ability, he said:
حتى تذهب عاهته
"Until its calamity passes."

② It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the sale of dates until they become red or yellow, and forbade the sale of wheat until it becomes white and is safe from calamity. He forbade both the seller and the buyer from this.

③ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade selling fruits until they become red and yellow and edible.

④ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade the sale of grapes until they become black and forbade the sale of grains until they ripen and become ready.

It is prohibited for a local person to sell on behalf of an outsider​

① Sayyiduna Jabir رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لا يبع حاضر لباد ودعوا الناس يرزق الله بعضهم من بعض
“No local person should sell on behalf of an outsider. Leave people to their own conditions; Allah provides sustenance to some through others.”

② Sayyiduna Anas رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade that any local person should sell on behalf of an outsider, even if he is a true full brother from both mother and father.

Prohibition of meeting caravan people outside the city for buying and selling​

① Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما states that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم forbade meeting (buying) goods on the way.
This hadith is found in Bukhari and Muslim with a different context.
② Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما also reports that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
لا تلقوا السلع حتى يهبط بها إلى الأسواق
"Do not meet goods for trade on the road outside the city until they are brought down in the markets."
