This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, which has been translated into Urdu by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
المراء فى القرآن كفر
"Arguing and disputing about the Qur'an is disbelief."

② It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
لا تمار أخاك ولا تمازحه، ولا تعده موعدا فتخلفه
"Do not argue with your (Muslim) brother, neither joke with him nor make a promise to him and then break it."

③ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
أنا زعيم ببيت فى ربض الجنة لمن ترك المراء وإن كان محقا، وببيت فى وسط الجنة لمن ترك الكذب وإن كان مازحا، وببيت فى أعلى الجنة لمن حسن خلقه
"I guarantee a house in Paradise for the person who, despite being right, leaves off arguing; and I guarantee a house in the middle of Paradise for the person who stops lying even in jest; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Paradise for the person who improves his manners."

① Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates, I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! It is enough for you that Sayyida Safiya (may Allah be pleased with her) is short in stature. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
لقد قلت كلمة لو مزج بها البحر لمزجته
"You have said something that if mixed in the ocean, it would change its condition."
She narrates: I imitated a person in front of the Prophet (peace be upon him), and he said:
ما أحب أني حكيت إنسانا وأن لي كذا وكذا
"I do not like to imitate any person, even if I am given so much wealth."

Explanation: Some have interpreted "muhakat" to mean backbiting. Then the translation would be: "I do not like to backbite any person, even if I am given so much wealth."
① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
إن الله تعالى قال: من عادى لي وليا فقد آذنته بالحرب
"Allah Almighty said: Whoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, I declare war against him."
