This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnooat.


Prohibition of fasting only on the day of Friday​


① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
لا يصومن أحدكم يوم الجمعة إلا يوما قبله أو بعده
“None of you should fast only on the day of Friday, unless he fasts a day before it or a day after it as well.”

Prohibition of fasting on the two Eids​


① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade fasting on the days of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr.

② Sayyida Aisha رضي الله عنها states that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade fasting on both days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Prohibition of a Woman Fasting Without Her Husband's Permission​


① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
لا تصوم المرأة وبعلها شاهد إلا بإذنه
"A woman whose husband is present should not fast (voluntarily) without his permission."

Prohibition of Leaving Fasting in Ramadan Without Excuse​


① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
من أفطر يوما من رمضان من غير علة ، ولا مرض ، لم يقضه صوم الدهر كله وإن صامه
"Whoever leaves a fast of Ramadan without any illness or excuse, even if he fasts for the rest of his life, he cannot make up for that missed fast."
