This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said:
حجبت النار بالشهوات وحجبت الجنة بالمكاره
"A fence of desires has been set around Hell, and a fence of arduous struggles has been set around Paradise."

And in one narration of Muslim, instead of "حجبت", the word "حفت" is used, which means: "It has been surrounded."
① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
تعس عبد الدينار ، وعبد الدرهم ، والقطيفة والخميصة ، إن أعطي رضي وإن لم يعط لم يرض
"The lovers of dirhams and dinars and garments and clothing will perish; if they are given, they are pleased, and if not given, they become angry."

② Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) that he said:
تعس عبد الدينار وعبد الدرهم وعبد الخميصة ، إن أعطي رضي وإن لم يعط سخط ، تعس وانتكس وإذا شيك فلا انتقش
"The lovers of dirhams and dinars and clothing will perish; if they are given, they are satisfied, and if not given, they become angry. They fall down prostrate, and when a thorn pricks them, no one removes it."

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar رضي الله عنهما that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
لا تكثروا الكلام بغير ذكر الله عز وجل ، فإن كثرة الكلام بغير ذكر الله قسوة للقلب ، وإن أبعد الناس من الله تعالى القلب القاسي
"Do not engage in excessive talk without the remembrance of Allah, because excessive talk without the remembrance of Allah causes hardness of the heart, and the one with a hardened heart will be the farthest from Allah."

① Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
إن العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة من رضوان الله لا يلقي لها بالا ، يرفعه الله تعالى بها درجات ، وإن العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة من سخط الله لا يلقي لها بالا ، يهوي بها فى جهنم
"A person carelessly utters a word that pleases Allah, because of which Allah raises his ranks, and a person carelessly utters a word that displeases Allah, because of which He casts him into Hell."

② Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say:
إن العبد ليتكلم بالكلمة ما يتبين فيها ، يزل بها فى النار أبعد ما بين المشرق والمغرب
"A person utters a word whose consequence he does not realize, and he slips into Hell as far as the distance between the East and the West."

③ Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الرجل ليتكلم بالكلمة لا يرى بها بأسا يهوى بها سبعين خريفا فى النار
"A man says something in which he feels no harm, but because of it, he will be cast into Hell for seventy years."

④ It is narrated from Sayyiduna Bilal bin Harith al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
إن الرجل ليتكلم بالكلمة من رضوان الله ما كان يظن أن تبلغ ما بلغت يكتب الله له بها رضوانه إلى يوم يلقاه ، وإن الرجل ليتكلم بالكلمة من سخط الله ما كان يظن أن تبلغ ما بلغت يكتب الله له بها سخطه إلى يوم يلقاه
"A man utters a word that pleases Allah, not realizing that it will reach the status it has reached; because of this word, Allah writes for him His pleasure until the Day of Meeting. And a man utters a word that displeases Allah, not realizing that it will reach the status it has reached; because of this word, Allah writes for him His displeasure until the Day of Meeting."
