This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mosuli, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, I gave a horse as Sadaqah in the way of Allah. Then the person who had it weakened it, so I intended to buy it thinking he would sell it cheaply. I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he said:
لا تشتريه ولا تعد فى صدقتك و إن أعطاكه بدرهم فإن العائد فى صدقته كالعائد فى قيئه
“Do not buy it and do not take back your Sadaqah even if he offers it to you for one dirham, for the one who takes back his Sadaqah is like one who vomits and then licks it.”

① Sayyiduna Muawiyah رضي الله عنه narrates, I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم say:
إنما أنا خازن فمن أعطيته عن طيب نفس فيبارك له فيه ومن أعطيته عن مسألة وشره كان كالذي يأكل ولا يشبع
"I am the treasurer, so whoever I give willingly and with pleasure, there will be blessing for him in it, and whoever I give because of his asking and intense greed, he is like the one who eats but is not satisfied."
