② Sayyiduna Abu Malik al-Ash'ari رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
النائحة إذا لم تتب قبل موتها تقام يوم القيامة وعليها سربال من قطران ودرع من جرب

Prohibition of Announcing a Death

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to forbid announcing a death. And the Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
إياكم والنعي فإنه من عمل الجاهلية
"Avoid announcing a death because it is from the practices of ignorance."
Reference: Tirmidhi, Book of Funerals 986.

② Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) states, when I die, do not inform anyone about me, I fear that it may be included in the announcement of death, and I have heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbidding the announcement of a death.
