Playing with pigeons, playing dice, and the commands regarding contradictions between words and actions

This excerpt is taken from the Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi by Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mawsili, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.

Prohibition of Playing with Pigeons​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم saw a man chasing a pigeon and playing with it, then he said:
شيطان يتبع شيطانة
“The devil is chasing the devil’s own game.”

Prohibition of Playing Dice (Chausar)​

① It is narrated from Sayyiduna Buraidah رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من لعب بالنرد أو النردشير فكأنما صبغ يده فى لحم خنزير ودمه
“Whoever plays dice (chausar) has, as if, colored his hand with the flesh and blood of a pig.”

② Sayyiduna Abu Musa رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم said:
من لعب بالترد أو النردشير فقد عصى الله ورسوله
“Whoever plays chausar has disobeyed Allah and His Messenger صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.”

There should be no contradiction between a person's words and actions​

① Sayyiduna Abu Wa'il (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
يؤتى بالرجل يوم القيامة فيلقى فى النار فتندلق أقتاب بطنه فيدور بها كما يدور الحمار فى الرحا فيجتمع إليه أهل النار فيقولون: يا فلان ما لك؟ ألم تكن تأمر بالمعروف وتنهى عن المنكر؟ فيقول: بلى كنت آمر بالمعروف ولا آتيه، وأنهى عن المنكر وآتيه
"On the Day of Resurrection, a man will be brought and thrown into Hell. His intestines will come out, and he will circle around them like a donkey turning a millstone. The inhabitants of Hell will gather around him and say: O so-and-so! What has happened to you? Did you not enjoin good and forbid evil? He will say: Yes, I used to enjoin good, but I did not do it myself, and I used to forbid evil, but I used to commit it myself."
