Let the Child Play Freely
Narration:
«عن ام خالد بنت خالد بن سعيد، قالت: اتيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم مع ابي... [صحيح: رواه البخاري 1993]»
Narrated by Umm Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa‘eed (رضي الله عنها):
She said: I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with my father, and I was wearing a yellow garment. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Sunnah, sunnah." ‘Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) explained that this is an Abyssinian word meaning “excellent”. Umm Khalid further said: I began playing with the Seal of Prophethood, upon which my father scolded me. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Let her be.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Live long, may Allah grant you a long life. May you live long, may you live long.”
The narrator of the hadith, ‘Abdullah (رضي الله عنه), mentioned that indeed, she lived for a very long time — her longevity became well-known and widely mentioned.
