This excerpt is taken from Sheikh Hussain bin Mubarak Al-Mosuli's Arabic book Al-Awamer wal-Nawahi, whose Urdu translation has been done by Muhammad Sarwar Gohar Sahib under the title Ahkamat o Mamnoaat.
① Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Maghfal رضي الله عنه narrates that a close companion of Sayyiduna Ibn Maghfal رضي الله عنه threw a pebble between his two middle fingers, so he forbade him and said that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade throwing pebbles and said:
إنه لا يصيد صيدا
“It cannot even be used for hunting.”
That man did the same again. So he said: I am narrating to you a hadith in which the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم forbade this, yet you are still throwing pebbles; I will never speak to you again.

① Sayyiduna Muawiyah رضي الله عنه narrates, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم stood among us and said:
ألا إن من كان قبلكم من أهل الكتاب افترقوا على ثنتين وسبعين ملة، وإن هذه الملة ستفترق على ثلاث وسبعين، ثنتان وسبعون فى النار، وواحدة فى الجنة وهى الجماعة، وإنه سيخرج من أمتي أقوام تتجارى بهم تلك الأهواء كما يتجارى الكلب لصاحبه لا يبقى منه عرق ولا مفصل إلا دخله
"Listen! Those among the People of the Book before you were divided into better sects, and this Ummah will be divided into seventy-three sects, among which the best will enter Paradise and the others Hell, and that best group is the Jama'ah (the main body). And soon some people will emerge from my Ummah in whom desires will spread as the madness of a mad dog spreads through every vein and fiber of the affected person."

① Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
من أحدث فى أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
"Whoever introduces into this matter (religion) of ours something that is not part of it, it will be rejected."

② Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:
أنا فرطكم على الحوض وليختلجن رجال دوني فأقول: يا رب أصحابي، فيقال: إنك لا تدري ما أحدثوا بعدك
"I will be the predecessor at the Pond of Kawthar, and some people will be prevented from coming to me. I will say: O my Lord! These are my companions. It will be said: You do not know what new deeds they innovated after you in the religion."
