The definition of Monotheism in Worship is:
That no one other than Allah Almighty is worshipped, and this is the meaning of La ilaha illallah. That is, in matters of worship, everyone except Allah Almighty is negated.
The definition of Polytheism in Worship is:
That any creature is included in the worship of Allah Almighty, whereas monotheism is that only Allah Almighty is worshipped. This is the meaning of the pure declaration of faith (Kalima Tayyiba), and this is the ruling in the Kalima Tayyiba, the Quran, and Hadith.
That Allah Almighty alone is worshipped.

Worship of anyone other than Allah is forbidden.

Allah Almighty created jinn and humans solely for His worship:
[وَ مَا خَلَقۡتُ الۡجِنَّ وَ الۡاِنۡسَ اِلَّا لِیَعۡبُدُوۡنِ] And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
The right of the servants upon Allah is that they worship Him alone and do not associate anyone with Him.

The One who is the Creator, who made the earth and the heavens, who sends down rain and brings forth fruits, who has no equal.
Reference: Al-Baqarah:22,21
He is alive, the Sustainer of all, neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him, whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him. Who can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows all that is present and absent of the creation. His Throne encompasses the heavens and the earth.
Reference: Al-Baqarah:255
And He is the One who revealed the Quran, the Torah, and the Gospel, who forms your pattern in the womb as He wills. [Aal Imran:1 to 7] The Creator of everything, the Knower of all things, who is Allah, the Lord.
Reference: Surah Al-Furqan
states:And they have taken besides Allah gods who cannot create anything, while they themselves were created, and they are not owners of benefit or harm for themselves, nor are they owners of life, death, or resurrection.
Reference: Al-Furqan:3
That is, the true deity is the Creator, not the created; the Owner of harm and benefit; the Owner of life, death, and resurrection. There is no deity besides Him because no one else possesses these attributes. Why should they not prostrate to Allah, who reveals the unseen of the heavens and the earth? And He knows whatever you conceal and whatever you reveal. Allah alone is such that there is no deity except Him; He is the Owner of the Great Throne.
Reference: An-Naml:26, 25
Only Allah is the deity because no one else possesses the above-mentioned attributes:

[(Are they better as partners) or He who created the heavens and the earth and sent down water from the sky for you, then We caused to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty? You could not have grown their trees. Is there any deity with Allah? Rather, they are a people who are turning away], [(Are they better as partners) or He who made the earth a stable place and made rivers in its midst and set mountains upon it and made between the two seas a barrier? Is there any deity with Allah? Most of them do not know], [Or He who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there any deity with Allah? Very few of you remember], [Or He who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there any deity with Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him], [Or He who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there any deity with Allah? Bring your proof, if you should be truthful], [Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected."]

There is no deity besides Allah because none else possesses the above attributes.
[And they were astonished that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the disbelievers said, "This is an intense magician."], [Did he make the gods one deity? Indeed, this is a curious thing], [And the eminent among them went forth, saying, "Continue in your gods; indeed, this is a thing intended."]
Reference: Sad:4 to 6
There is only one God; making more than one deity is the work of the disbelievers and polytheists of Mecca, as well as the Jews and Christians. They are called polytheists because they used to perform all four types of worship for Allah as well as for the prophets and other elders, and foremost among this was calling upon others besides Allah. The Quran and Hadith bear witness to this, and today's professed monotheists are doing exactly the same. It should be noted that in Ahmad Raza Khan Sahib's Quranic translation with commentary, it is also written at the above-mentioned places that there is no deity except Allah.
