❖ The Argument of Intercession
Many people who worship others besides Allah claim:"We believe that Allah is the one who controls everything; these saints are only our intercessors with Allah."
This belief is a dangerous gateway to shirk. Although these individuals may not deny Allah's sovereignty, they assign a false role to others as intermediaries and intercessors. In doing so, they fall into the same error committed by historical polytheists.
❖ False Analogies to Justify Shirk
To defend their practice, some fabricate misleading examples:➤ "Just as a king governs his kingdom through ministers, Allah too governs the universe through His saints."
➤ "Just as a roof cannot be reached without stairs, Allah too cannot be reached without intermediaries."
These analogies misrepresent the nature of Allah, equating the Creator with the creation, and are strictly rejected in Islam. Allah is not in need of any intermediaries. Using such comparisons to justify seeking aid from saints or the dead is spiritually corrupt and doctrinally invalid.
Some even argue,
"These saints we worship are also created by Allah."
But this logic is flawed — creation does not entitle worship or intercession.
❖ Correct Analogies that Clarify Tawheed
Islam presents correct parables to help people differentiate truth from falsehood and to clarify the absurdity of shirk.① The Slave and the Free Man
One is a powerless slave, the other is a free man who spends his wealth generously.Just as these two cannot be equal, a lifeless idol cannot be compared to Allah, the All-Powerful.
② The Mute and the Just Man
One is mute and incapable, the other commands justice and walks a straight path.Likewise, how can powerless idols be equal to Allah, who is Just and Wise?
③ The Spider’s Web
Those who take others besides Allah as protectors are like a spider who builds a fragile home. This home offers no real protection — just as these false deities offer no real help.
❖ Reflection and Realization
The purpose of these divine examples is to inspire reflection, so that people may realize the futility of shirk and return to pure Tawheed. Yet this understanding is granted only to those who genuinely seek knowledge and reflect upon the truth.True intercession lies only with Allah’s permission. No saint, prophet, or being can help unless Allah allows it. Assigning such powers independently to them is nothing short of shirk — the gravest sin in Islam.
