Abu Wa'il narrates:
كتب خالد بن الوليد إلى الفرس : إن معي جندا يحبون القتل كما تحب فارس الخمر
Our master Khalid bin Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, wrote a letter to the people of Persia saying that I have an army with me that loves fighting just as you Persians love wine."
