❖ Denying External Intelligence in the Framework of Evolution
✿ A Fundamental Question
Those who believe in evolution and consider it a process that occurred spontaneously without any divine plan or intelligent design are faced with a fundamental question:
Is human consciousness and intellect merely the product of a biological brain, or is there a non-material reality beyond this brain?
❖ The Nature of Human Consciousness
If it is assumed that human consciousness is connected to something non-material outside the biological brain, then it must also be acknowledged that there exists something in man that transcends material boundaries. This would inevitably necessitate the acceptance of a Creator.
However, if consciousness and the mind are declared to be solely the result of the biological brain, a complex issue arises.
❖ The Brain, Logic, and Evolution
In such a case, the following assumptions must be accepted:
① Reason, logic, emotions, ethics, beauty, and all concepts of reality are outcomes of the evolutionary development of the biological brain.
② The order and structure we observe in the universe are not objectively real; rather, our brain perceives them as orderly due to its evolutionary makeup.
③ Scientific theories, mathematical principles, and other abstract concepts are inventions of the brain, formed merely under the pressures of evolution.
❖ Alternative Possibilities in Evolutionary Patterns
It is also possible that, had the human brain evolved in a different way, our current way of thinking and perception would have been entirely different.
For example, in another universe, there could exist a different kind of creature whose brain evolved on a completely different pattern from ours. Their concepts of reason, logic, and emotions could be entirely different from our standards.
In such a situation, notions like “truth,” “goodness,” and “morality” would be nothing more than accidental byproducts of evolution.
❖ The Human Brain and Non-Material Reality
If human consciousness is subjective and merely the product of a biological brain, then the human intellect is not qualified to determine whether God exists or not.
Interestingly, even the theory of evolution itself has been understood by us through this same “subjective” intellect. Hence, the question arises:
Is evolution genuinely real, or is it just an evolutionary illusion of our brain?
❖ Evolution and Logical Contradiction
To accept evolution, one must place trust in the objectivity of the human brain and its perceptions.
However, if the objectivity of the brain itself is questioned, then the foundation of the theory of evolution collapses.
As a result, it is logically valid to state that without any external intelligence, the theory of evolution is inherently flawed.
✦ Conclusion
There exists a clear logical contradiction in the belief of evolution.
Considering the limitations of human consciousness and the brain, it is logically impossible to believe in evolution without accepting the existence of an external intelligence.
