If a person has papers in his pocket containing Qur’anic verses or ahadith, can he urinate while keeping them in his pocket, or should he remove them first?
Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-s-salāmu ‘alā Rasūlillāh. Ammā ba‘d:
If someone has such papers in his pocket on which Qur’anic verses or ahadith are written, he should remove them before urinating.
❀ Respect for the Qur’an and Sunnah is obligatory.
❀ Having these sacred texts present in a place where there is impurity is contrary to proper etiquette.
❀ This action may fall under disrespect of the sacred words.
Before urinating, one should remove any such papers from the pocket to maintain the due honor and respect of the Qur’an and Hadith.
هٰذَا مَا عِندِي وَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ بِالصَّوَاب
