❖ Domestic Violence: The Islamic Perspective and Practical Steps

This is indeed a deeply painful and distressing situation. No woman can be forced to endure abuse, and Islam does not permit a husband to commit injustice against his wife. On the contrary, Islam commands men to treat their wives with kindness, not oppression.
If a woman is facing domestic abuse, she must take steps to confront and address it.

❖ Islamic Perspective

① Oppression Against One’s Wife is Forbidden

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The best among you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best among you to my wives.”
(Tirmidhi: 3895)

This Hadith clearly demonstrates that a husband must behave with love and respect toward his wife, not with cruelty or violence.

Islam Does Not Command Endurance of Oppression

Islam does not instruct the oppressed to remain silent, but rather encourages them to speak up against injustice.

"وَلَا تَرْكَنُوا إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ"
(Surah Hud: 113)

Translation: “And do not incline towards those who do wrong, lest the Fire should touch you.”

This verse indicates the importance of resisting oppression instead of tolerating it.

❖ What Can You Do?

① Seek Help from Trustworthy and Supportive Individuals

◈ Speak to family members, elders, scholars, or respected members of the community who may be able to help rectify the situation.
◈ If there is someone supportive within the in-laws, approach them for assistance.

② Obtain Legal Help

◈ Most countries have laws against domestic violence—make use of them.
◈ Contact local police or organizations dedicated to women’s rights and protection.
◈ If the husband persistently abuses and shows no sign of reform, you have the right to seek Khula’ (Islamic divorce).

③ Consult Scholars and Islamic Jurists

◈ Reach out to local Islamic scholars or a Dar al-Ifta (Fatwa Center) for proper Shari'ah-based guidance.

④ Adopt a Strategic Approach with Patience and Du'a

◈ In addition to praying, take practical steps—prayer alone is not sufficient.
◈ Seek support from a reliable individual or organization that can help provide a safe shelter if necessary.

❖ Can I Assist You Further?

◈ If you're in a specific country or city, I can provide information about local women’s protection centers or relevant support organizations in your area.

❖ Remember:

You are not alone. You deserve justice.
Oppression is neither acceptable nor tolerated in Islam.

Seeking help is not a weakness—it is your Islamic and legal right.
