❖ Question:
Is the month of Rajab designated for paying Zakāt?
Source: Fatāwā Amunpuri by Shaykh Ghulam Mustafa Zaheer Amunpuri
✿ Answer:
There is no evidence for declaring the month of Rajab as the specific month for Zakāt.
“As for Zakāt, the people of these lands have made it a habit to pay it in the month of Rajab, but there is no basis for this in the Sunnah, nor is it reported from any of the Salaf.”
(Laṭā’if al-Maʿārif: 120)

Specifying Rajab as the month of Zakāt has no foundation in the Sunnah or the practice of the early generations. Zakāt should be given whenever a person’s one lunar year (ḥawl) is completed, not tied to a particular month like Rajab.
